Raymi Wrangles Supermodels at 2017 Miss World Canada
In July 2017, KPDI Digital Marketing Agency in Toronto provided digital solutions for the 2017 Search for Miss World Canada, and I was wrapped up in the deliverables and another line item on the agency’s list of overall contributions. They sent me along to help implement the technology and get pictures and videos to write about the beauty pageant afterwards.
It was one of the best things I’ve done in a while, and so I’ll happily share some behind the scenes moments here in my Toronto blog. Like here , the supermodels – Something South and Cynthia Menard
Here’s Alec Glover (KPDI summer student) and myself at the start of MWC Fitness Day which is the first day I helped out. Alec was a big help too – he must have been loving it (he’s 19).
But to his credit, he didn’t show it, or even get nervous or tongue tied, and, in truth, I think all the ladies were a little intimidated by him and his aptitude.
On Tuesday, 18 July a beauty pageant descended on Mayfair
On Tuesday, 18 July the 2017 Search for Miss World Canada descended on Mayfair Clubs Lakeshore fitness gym facility, and I helped make the Saltwater Selfie attraction which you can read about on Mayfair Clubs blog about 2017 Miss World Canada Fitness Day.
We put a HERO5 GoPro camera under water, clamped to the pool ladder, and the delegates took turns swimming with a silver crown on their heads. This gimmick looked great when it worked, some of the time – you can see below is one of the times when it did NOT work so well for the swimmer.
Alec and I had the difficult task of keeping it all straight; I wrote every girl’s name on a plastic slate which Alec held up in front of the camera for a few seconds. That way, when he cut up all the moments to send to each participant, he would know the performer. These girls all had to friend him on Facebook to get their vids hahah. Who thought of that? He made forty some videos, but only fourteen delegates posted. Five girls won microfiber beach towels from Snappy Towels which was also a sponsor.
Here is Rachel, Miss Nova Scotia World 2017 doing here best underwater work-out. This media was not seen by the judges when they picked the winners, or so I’m told. It didnt win anything but its my favourite. Rachel won Miss Congeniality later – on Sat nite – at the end of the pageant.
That day was fun and over quickly we were all back to work in the office at 2pm but not Alec cause he was busy cutting videos and sending them to Delegates until about 6pm. The participants posted the videos all night. Everyone was really looking forward to the next day’s activities.
Mariposa Cruises Donates Toronto Harbour Cruise to 2017 Miss World Canada
The next day Wednesday 19th July I helped out on the Mariposa Cruises Harbour Tour for Miss World Canada and made up the pillows on the #VelagoSofaSelfie attraction. This was another brilliant idea.

The girls took turns posing on a high quality outdoor sofa from Velago Patio Furniture as the city of Toronto floated away behind them. It was always in use the whole voyage.

There was some very intense and interactive dance on the boat near the end of the cruise. I think maybe some of the ladies hoped the video dudes would put their down their cameras and join in the dancing but that didnt happen – they just got closer and more annoying.

Miss World Canada 2017 Bikini Fashion Show at Cabana Pool Bar was Breathtaking!
On Friday the 21st of July, the 2017 Search for Miss World Canada dominated ‘Ditch’ Fridays’ at Cabana Pool Bar with an absolutely world class runway fashion show. The girls were dressed in Sisia swimwear and Rachel Sin style casual wear. I was made to understand that the outfits were for around the pool and that makes sense. They were fun and colourful.
The show was spectacular in every respect as the weather was perfect, the swimwear was stunning and the pool was packed with photographers of every creed and caliber.

What an amazing experience this was for everyone. I don’t think that the special circumstances were lost on any of the attendees at that historic event and this is one of those rare times when this author believes she is in the exact perfect place at the perfect time in history. The fashion show was by accounts a world class event; it was a fashion show unlike anything anyone had ever seen before.
Saturday was decision day – one girl would win a crown.

The agency didn’t send me to spy on the whole program sadly, so I can only report second-hand who won the crown on the Saturday night.
