The Darling Mansion

Tanya Grossi and Raymi pose amongst furs on Boxing Day, Tanya’s birthday (party) a most lavish occasion in which she opened up many rooms of The Darling Mansion to party guests.

Welcome to a Raymi Toronto inside scoop of the ever-successful Air B&B masterpiece The Darling Mansion by proprietress Tanya Grossi located at 224 Dovercourt Road which was also featured on the front page of The Toronto Star’s Entertainment section last Wednesday, January 27: What goes on inside Toronto’s Darling Mansion? All photos in this Raymi Toronto post taken by Tracey White Kirouac aka my mom.

This is Tanya’s own bedroom as she is the Madam of the house. For as long as I’ve known her (seven years!) Tanya has been an unrivaled collector of fine antiquities, treasures and decor for the bar she used to own, Salvador Darling (a play on Salvador Dali). She is even friends with Geoffrey Rush and you betcha he stays at the Darling Mansion when in town and also patroned Salvador Darling.

Here’s the BIOGRAPHY of TDM,

The Darling Mansion was created and designed by Tanya Grossi whose hostessing and style make her bar Salvador Darling a Toronto treasure.

The mansion was built in 1888 for one of Canada’s first female doctors. Having grown up in Toronto, Tanya fell in love with the mansion over 20 years ago! After years of yearning she was finally able to make her love a reality and now it is her home.

Located steps away from West Queen West, deemed by Vogue magazine as the second hippest district in the world. The Darling Mansion is Toronto’s most anticipated B&B. It may be located in a Victorian Estate, but this isn’t your grandmothers Bed & Breakfast.

Tanya welcomes artists, musicians, adventurers and those with a joie de vivre with an open heart and open mind. It is the right amount of wrong, Liberace meets Dali meets her visionary burning hot mind. She looks forward to sharing her dream home with you and trust her when she says you won’t want to leave!

The Darling Mansion attracts all kinds 🙂 Tanya hired ballerina Alayna Kellett for the night. I’m so glad I took my mother along with and powered through all the holiday festivities happily adding Tanya’s Boxing Day birthday party to the list. I knew it couldn’t possibly be missed.

Watching the performance. Gurpreet accompanied ballerina girl on this instrument called a Hang. Cool asf. My mom seemd to favour photographing him.

I bumped into Gurpreet at a TIFF party over the summer – awesome guy. Small world that Toronto.

An adorb taxidermy fox overlooks the bar.

Requisite posh hotel guy and stuffed panther can be found in the beautiful “The Boudoir Room” and wait til you see the mural…

So many photo opps to be had in The Darling Mansion more than meets the eye.

The name of the painter of this beautiful mural is Birdo.

Getting the holiday tingles looking at these.

Tanya and Gurpreet sharing a technological moment. Tanya is an ageless beauty. Must be an Italian thing.

We sneaked into her room and proceeded to do our own photoshoot then Tanya joined in and we had a fit of the giggles. Super fun night I bumped into many of my friends there and each one was like, that was a legendary party. Who knew when else you could scope it all out (for free!) like that?

This is the Wes Anderson Room. LOVE him. The other wall has a couple amazing nude portraits on it. All the bawdy shots like that will be taken over to rtm.com I don’t want to get banned from google ads here lol.

Party revelers hang out on the balcony off the master bedroom second floor Opium Den suite. A VERY grand room with containing a four poster bed and a turkish stand-up bath (shower) that looks down onto the street below and I imagine you feel like a sultan in there.

A raised open concept shower, so impressive. We made many new friends and acquaintances this night.

Brilliant.

Exquisite. I love ballet.

This is the Magic Carpet Ride Room and the star of it is the custom made walnut queen bed frame suspended from the ceiling. Ready?

Hi mom! I like your friends.

I guess you could call us swingers.

Love this saddle and riding hat. She had a beautiful chest piece tattoo of flowers.

Is it kisseroonie time already!?

Tanya’s bedroom has a fun peekaboo trellis so you can presumably watch her sleep.

Can’t get enough of her. That guy seems pretty blown away too.

This is the couch in Tanya’s decadent office. Oops I left my shark mouth behind. Jk.

This moon chair swing is legendary and used to hang at Salvador Darling. If you’re a Torontonian you know at least 10 people who have a facebook photo in it if you haven’t done so yourself. That tall red chair has a Geoffrey Rush picture floating around posing on it.

Profesh security on the premises so no funny business or wandering out with your dranks. I know cos I tried LOL. By mistake only. The dude abides!

Do you feel embarrassed a party dog made it there and you didn’t? I would.

Enough ornate things to spy everywhere there’s just seriously so much authentic curiosities throughout you will not be disappointed.

The Opium Den Room does not come with opium but it does come with this opulent bed. You can pretend to be Ebeneezer Scrooge in there!

This one’s in Tanya’s room. Lucky!

This gorgeous ceiling fixture resides downstairs in the room off of the main livingroom area, I believe Tanya typically has a long dining room table in there, yes?

Balcony warriors. My mom party haunted them. If you’d like Tracey and I to tag-team your Toronto-event/something, get in touch. She just did a thing at Famous People Players and Alex Trebek was there. She’s killing it.

Is the Darling Mansion haunted? Only by Gurpreet.

The lady in the lace mask had the most sensual voice (there is no other way of putting it). She said she wore this mask at Christmas and her mother said in her older mother (who knows better) Eastern European accented voice that “you need to grow up.” Loved that haha. My gf in Detroit has the same lace mask. Two versions. Women and their accessories, no? Peacocking can be fun, is fun and The Darling Mansion is the perfect place for it you really must go down the rabbit hole at the next opportune moment.

Nice work on the brews there.

The ‘tenders. Tanya always has excellent staff. I’m friends with these folks now at least I think I am (it’s true believe it).

Tanya I have GOT to hand it to ya. What a superb way to spend your birthday which is also on Boxing Day (has that magical Christmas vibe still) in your Darling Mansion, totally incredible. Being at the Darling Mansion feels something like this.

and.

Definitely.

Watch yourself now.

Office envy. Replete with lobster phone!

What a bombshell. Sorry for all the puns.

Oh hai. You’ll have to check out part II of The Darling Mansion on raymitheminx.com tomorrow – all the shots a bit too racy for Raymi Toronto – what fun. So, til then thanks for tuning in Toronto see you around!
